PGCAR HABITAT HOUSE NOW UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The PGCAR Habitat House is finally under construction. We are hopeful to have the house completed in August so the family will be moved in time for school. If you would like to volunteer your time to work on the house and have not sent in your name, please email Joan Ostenso at jostenso@pgcar.com. Thank you to all who contributed so generously and who are now giving their time to complete this build.

SPOTLIGHT ON PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY TO HIGHLIGHT SPECIAL OFFICES. . . As a feature in the monthly "Spotlight On Homes" supplement, Heidi LaMere of the Gazette selects an office every month that goes above and beyond the call of duty for a FREE 3/4 page ad highlighting their community involvement. Three Prince George's County offices, Long & Foster in Bowie, Century 21 Home Center and Long & Foster College Park, have already been featured. The articles outline the community efforts REALTOR® offices are involved in. We are now looking for other offices to be spotlighted. Nominations must be received at the Gazette. What is your office doing? If you feel your office should be highlighted over the coming months, please contact Heidi LaMere. Also, Heidi will accept your ad if you would like to advertise in this PGCAR Supplement.

MARYLAND ADVERTISING LAWS . . .Most Maryland REALTORS® know that the Maryland Real Estate Commission has spent several months attempting to clarify and improve the law and regulations that govern advertising. In April, the Commission directed its staff to begin an effort to enforce the law and regulations. Therefore, brokers, associate brokers and salespersons should review all advertising to ensure compliance with several basic rules. Please study and make sure you comply. MAR has provided a listing of the basic rules, and the actual laws and regulations, at mdrealtor.org. Please review this and all the changes that were passed during this year's General Session in Annapolis.

DID YOU KNOW??? . . .In 2001, HB 1197 was passed granting that Prince George's County Public School System classroom teachers buying and agreeing to occupy a home for a period of at least three (3) years as a principal residence, will be charged no more than 1% County Transfer Tax at settlement. A special form must be filled in and filed at settlement in order to receive the discounted Transfer Tax. The form (PG 1301M) can be downloaded from the PGCAR.com website.
