The Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® (PGCAR) represents over 3000 REALTORS® and industry-related professionals in Prince George's County, Maryland, and throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
PGCAR is the voice of the REALTOR®, working to ensure public policy that encourages homeownership in the national capital area. The association also serves the business needs of its members by providing education, networking opportunities, news, information and many more services to give REALTORS® the tools they need to be successful.
Voice for Real Estate
The PGCAR public policy team stays in close contact with the Prince George's County Council and local & state legislative leaders. PGCAR works with these policymakers to ensure legislation that encourages homeownership and does not put burdens on the business of real estate. Through emails and its Web site, PGCAR quickly alerts members and the public when action is needed on proposed legislation or policy change that would be detrimentally affect homeownership within the county.
PGCAR offers continuing education courses REALTORS® need to maintain their licenses. Courses include topics on forms, regulations, emerging trends and the latest products and services. Occasionally PGCAR offers homeownership and credit counseling classes for members of the public interested in buying or selling a home.
Local, State & National Network
Every REALTOR® member of PGCAR is also a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and the Maryland REALTORS®, and also has access to their extensive offerings and resources.
REALTORS® are some of the most active community participants in the nation. Our members exemplify this statement. In 2005, the association completed construction of a new home in Riverdale in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, and plan to participate in future Habitat builds throughout the county. Annually, thousands of real estate professionals in Prince George's County volunteer with numerous church, civic, political, youth, senior, recreational, philanthropical, educational and service organizations. We proudly recognize the efforts of our members who do so each summer.
In principle and in practice, PGCAR values and seeks diverse and inclusive participation within the field of real estate. PGCAR will promote involvement and expand access to leadership opportunities, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, nationality, disability, appearance, geographic location or professional level. The association will provide leadership and commit time and resources to accomplish this objective while serving as a model to other associations engaged in such endeavors.
PGCAR's Web site contains a wealth of real estate information, including:
- A directory of REALTORS®, lenders and other affiliate services located within the county
- Mortgage calculators
- Links to federal, state and local homeownership assistance programs
