CANDIDATES FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS BEING SOUGHT . . . Have you ever thought about serving on the Board of Directors? Candidates are now being sought for the Board of Directors for 2004/2005. Four Directors will be elected this year for two year terms. To qualify to serve as a Director, you must be a member of the Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® in good standing.

To qualify to serve as an officer (Vice President, President-Elect) of the Association, you must have served a two-year term as a Director during the last four years. If you would like to be a candidate, you can obtain a Candidate Form on the website or call the Association office at 301-306-7900 and one will be mailed or faxed to you. In order to be considered, your candidate form must be received no later than June 30, 2004. The Annual Installation Reception is tentatively scheduled for Thursday evening, September 9th. More information will follow as plans are finalized.

THE TIME TO BE RECOGNIZED IS GROWING SHORT . . . REALTORS® give back to their Communities everyday and the Community Service Committee of the Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® will once again honor REALTORS® for their volunteer efforts in the Community and the Association at a Reception which will be held at the LaFontaine Bleu on June 3rd, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you volunteer, please contact the Association office to obtain a questionnaire or go to our website at www.pgcar.com so that you will also be honored that evening.

2004 AWARDS NOMINATIONS . . . Forms are still available to nominate the REALTOR® of the Year (ROTY) and apply for the MAR CARE Award. Deadline for nominations is May 31th! If you need a form, please contact the Association Office -- or download at PGCAR.com.

PRINCE GEORGE'S REALTORS® TO JOIN WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY . . . We are very excited to report that PGCAR will partner with the Maryland Association of REALTORS® and Habitat for Humanity to restore a house in Prince George's County. PGCAR will be responsible for raising the necessary funds and the manpower to restore a home in our area so that a Prince George's County family will have the opportunity to experience home ownership. This is a first for our Association and we know that we can count on our members to contribute. We are asking all members to write a check to the Partnership for Housing Foundation. No amount is too small. All checks should be mailed to the Association office at 8400 Corporate Drive, Suite 225, Landover, MD 20785. If you would rather use your credit card, please contact Joan at the Association office. Thank you in advance for your generous support.

REMINDER OF ETHICS TRAINING REQUIREMENT . . . The countdown is on. NAR's quadrennial ethics requirement gives every member until December 31, 2004, to take an approved Code of Ethics course. Failure to satisfy this requirement shall be considered a violation of a membership duty for which REALTOR® membership shall be suspended until such time as the training is completed. NAR offers two online ethics courses at REALTOR.org that fulfill these obligations: one for new members and one for existing members. Questions can be directed to: Member Policy Dept. (NOTE: Classes are also being offered by PGCAR on a regular basis. The next Ethics class will be offered on June 21st.

JUNE CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES . . . There is still space available in the following classes:

June 14th - New Home Sales
Instructor - Allison Mooney. 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. LaFontaine Bleu.
3 hours of MD and DC Continuing Education Credit.

June 14th - Ethics
Instructor - Allison Mooney. 1:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. LaFontaine Bleu.
3 hours of MD and DC Continuing Education Credit.

June 17th - The Current Environment of Mold in Real Estate
Instructor - Matthew Cooper. 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. LaFontaine Bleu.
3 hours of MD and DC Continuing Education Credit.

June 24th - MD 6 Hour Required Course consisting of MD Legislative Update (3 hours), MD Legal Update (1.5 hours) and MD Fair Housing (1.5 hours) Instructor - Don Martin. LaFontaine Bleu
All three classes count for 6 hours of MD and DC Continuing Education Credit.

Registration fee for REALTORS® is $25 for 3 hours of credit. The 6 hour class on June 24th is $60. A $15 late fee is charged if reservations are made less than 3 days prior to any class.
