LAST CHANCE TO BECOME A CANDIDATE FOR 2005 BOARD OF DIRECTORS . . . Have you ever thought about serving on the Board of Directors? Candidates are now being sought for the Board of Directors for 2004/2005. Four Directors will be elected this year for two-year terms. To qualify to serve as a Director, you must be a member of the Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® in good standing.

To qualify to serve as an officer (Vice President, President-Elect) of the Association, you must have served a two-year term as a Director during the last four years. If you would like to be a candidate, you can obtain a Candidate Form on the website or call the Association office at 301-306-7900 and one will be mailed or faxed to you. In order to be considered, your candidate form must be received no later than June 30, 2004. The Annual Installation Reception is tentatively scheduled for Thursday evening, September 9th. More information will follow as plans are finalized.

FORMS REVISED . . . The following forms have been updated and are available in the Membership Services Section of the website under Downloadable PDF Forms. They will be added to Zip Forms very shortly. They are:

  • Form #920 Exclusive Right to Sell Listing Contract for Land-Lot/Acreage/Farm,
  • Form #922 Exclusive Right to Sell Listing Contract for Commercial & Industrial,
  • Form #930 Competitive Market Analysis (CMA) Notice.

The new MAR Addendum, Maryland Non-Resident Seller Transfer Withholding Tax Addendum, has also been added to the website.

PRINCE GEORGE'S REALTORS® TO PARTNER WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY . . . PGCAR is moving forward with plans to partner with the Maryland Association of REALTORS® and Habitat for Humanity to restore a house in Prince George's County. PGCAR will be responsible for raising the necessary funds and providing the manpower to restore a home in our area so that a Prince George's County family will have the opportunity to experience home ownership. This is a first for our Association and we know that we can count on our members to participate with us in this very worthwhile and exciting project. We are asking all members to write a check to the Partnership for Housing Foundation. No amount is too small. All checks should be mailed to the Association office at 8400 Corporate Drive, Suite 225, Landover, MD 20785. If you would rather use your credit card, please contact Joan at the Association office. Thank you in advance for your generous support.

REMINDER OF ETHICS TRAINING REQUIREMENT . . . The countdown is on. NAR's quadrennial ethics requirement gives every member until December 31, 2004, to take an approved Code of Ethics course. Failure to satisfy this requirement shall be considered a violation of a membership duty for which REALTOR® membership shall be suspended until such time as the training is completed. NAR offers two online ethics courses at that fulfill these obligations: one for new members and one for existing members. Questions can be directed to: Member Policy Dept. (NOTE: Classes are also being offered by PGCAR on a regular basis. An Ethics Class will be offered at the LaFontaine Bleu on July 12th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)

JUNE, JULY & AUGUST CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES . . . There is still space available in the following classes:

June 24th - MD 6 Hour Required Course consisting of MD Legislative Update (3 hours), MD Legal Update (1.5 hours) and MD Fair Housing (1.5 hours)
Instructor - Don Martin. LaFontaine Bleu
All three classes count for 6 hours of MD and DC Continuing Education Credit.

July 12th - Ethics
Instructor - Allison Mooney. 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. LaFontaine Bleu.
3 hours of MD and DC Continuing Education Credit.

July 15th - What Every Agent Should Know about Mortgages, Credit Scoring, E-Loans and the Loan Approval Process
Instructor - Michael Chelst. 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. LaFontaine Bleu.
3 hours of MD Continuing Education Credit ONLY.

August 4th - Agency
Instructor - Al Monshower. 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. LaFontaine Bleu.
3 hours of MD and DC Continuing Education Credit.

Registration fee for REALTORS® is $25 for 3 hours of credit. The 6 hour class on June 24th is $60. A $15 late fee is charged if reservations are made less than 3 days prior to any class.
