The PGCAR office will be closed on Monday, January 21, in observance of Martin Luther King's birthday. Please plan accordingly and have a very happy holiday weekend.
The Community Service Committee would like to thank all of our members who contributed coats and food for the needy during the holidays. We were able to deliver 20 large bags of coats and many boxes of food to the needy in Prince George's County.
We also want to thank all those who gave so generously to our Christmas family. Not only were we able to purchase everything on their list, but had money left to assist in the payment of their rent. All of this was made possible because of your generosity and caring. It is not too late if you would like to contribute toward the rent for this family. Just mail your check payable to PGCAR or pay online at www.pgcar.com by Clicking Here.
Thank you and best wishes for a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.
Our prayers and sympathy go out to the family of Senator Gwendolyn Britt of the 47th Legislative District who passed away suddenly on Saturday morning, January 12th. "The passing of Senator Britt is a tremendous loss not only to her family, but our family in the state Senate, her constituents in Prince George's County, and to the state of Maryland," Senate President Mike Miller said in a document. "Her dedication to public service, leadership on issues such as education, health care, and civil rights was unmatched, and her reputation as a consensus-builder will be greatly missed."
We at PGCAR are saddened in the passing of Senator Gwendolyn Britt. She was well liked both on a personal and professional level. Senator Britt was supportive of REALTOR® issues and always made an effort to attend PGCAR events. In fact, we were very pleased to have her MC the 2006 PGCAR Fair Housing Poster Contest Party and present certificates to the children, which included her granddaughter who was a contest participant.
