PGCAR Annual Fair Housing Poster Contest Winners Honored
Winners of the Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® Annual Fair Housing Poster Contest were honored recently at a party held at the LaFontaine Bleu. Children participating in the Contest received congratulations from parents, teachers and members of the Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® . The children were further honored by having Congressman Al Wynn present each of them with a special Certificate of Participation and speak to them about the importance of fair housing.
Each year, the Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® takes part in the Fair Housing Poster Contest sponsored by the Maryland Association of REALTORS®. Posters are judged by the PGCAR Community Service/Cultural Diversity Committee and three local winners are submitted to the State competition. Students in Kindergarten through eighth grade were invited to participate this year in creating posters based on the theme "Fair Housing-Making Dreams Come True." Over 150 students submitted posters for this year's competition.
The State Association selects 12 winning posters to be featured in the following year's calendar. The twelve winners are honored at a reception at the State House in Annapolis and are presented with certificates by the Governor. The 2006 Calendar will include the poster submitted by Josette Roberts of Apple Grove Elementary School in Ft. Washington.
