Prince George's County Elected Officials Address REALTORS®

Over 120 REALTORS® attended the Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® (PGCAR) Annual Legislative Breakfast on November 21st held at Martin's Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland. The event, organized by the Association's Legislative Committee under the supervision of Chair, Michael Oleru, was another tremendous success. REALTORS® in attendance were excited to hear from Prince George's County Senate Delegation Chair, Senator Joanne C. Benson, Prince George's County House Delegation Chair Michael A. Jackson, and County Council Chair, Todd M. Turner.

This year all in attendance were excited to learn about the incredible opportunities and growth that Prince George's County continues to experience along with some of the upcoming challenges going into the 2020 Legislative Session. Michael Oleru, PGCAR Legislative Chair, cautioned REALTORS in the audience to be cognizant of two (2) important issues that should be on everyone's radar. First, funding of the Kirwan Commission. Chair Oleru, emphasized the need for REALTORS® to monitor the debate over funding the estimated $4 billion cost to transform Maryland public schools. Secondly, the 2020 Census. Chair Oleru, encouraged REALTORS® to assist with spreading the word about the 2020 Census.

Senator Benson, who spoke on behalf of the Prince George's County Senate Delegation and Delegate Jackson who spoke on behalf of the Prince George's County House Delegation both expanded the dialog regarding the importance of the Kirwan Commission and the 2020 Census.

Council Chair Turner also addressed the audience and provided a comprehensive review of important matters that the County Council has been working on over the course of the past 12 months that affect REALTORS®.

Several of our Prince George's County Senators, Delegates and County Council officials attended this year's event and enjoyed the interaction and networking opportunity that the Annual Legislative Breakfast affords.
