Maryland REALTORS® Rally in Annapolis

Special thanks to all of the Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® (PGCAR) members who contacted legislators or showed up in support! In total, over 700 Maryland REALTORS® showed up. And the House of Delegates listened!

Quickly after a late filed bill, HB 1628 (Sales and Use Tax - Rate Reduction and Services), was introduced to add a 5% tax on professional services including real estate, PGCAR and Maryland REALTORS® went into action.

As in the past, REALTORS® OPPOSED a services tax due to its negative impact on housing affordability, especially considering the tremendous contribution real estate already provides to local governments and education.

Maryland's proposed bill would have added a 5% tax to ALL professional services. That included REALTORS® and ALL real estate services such as appraisers, staging, inspections and home improvement. A 5% sales tax would have also been added to the services we pay for from other Maryland service providers.

THANK YOU for joining us on Monday, March 2 in Annapolis for a REALTOR® Rally to say NO.
