PGCAR 2025 Legislative Breakfast
Wednesday, December 3, 2025On December 3rd, more than 100 REALTORS®, affiliate members, and legislators gathered with great enthusiasm at Martin's Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland for the Prince George's County Association of REALTORS® (PGCAR) Annual Legislative Breakfast. This signature event was expertly organized by PGCAR's Legislative Committee, led by 2025 Legislative Committee Chair Christian Jackson.
Attendees welcomed an impressive lineup of distinguished speakers, including Prince George's County Executive Aisha Braveboy, Maryland State Senator Ron Watson, Maryland State Delegate and 1st Vice Chair Andrea Harrison, and Prince George's County Council Chair Krystal Oriadha.
The engaging program captured the full attention of the audience as speakers addressed key issues impacting the REALTOR® community. Topics included increasing the county's housing supply, upcoming initiatives to collaborate with REALTORS® on expanding affordable housing, the county budget, and innovative approaches to generating new revenues such as future plans for the former Six Flags property and the Commanders stadium site. Lisa May, Director of Advocacy and Public Policy at Maryland REALTORS®, reported on the BAMBY Act being pushed by the Maryland Association of County Officials (MACO) that proposes to create new housing taxes, alter the application of transfer and recordation fees, and proposes a cap on real estate commissions. The REALTOR® lobby team is immediately mobilized to weigh in on this proposal.
"We are truly grateful to everyone who attended and helped make this event such a resounding success. Each year, this gathering creates an essential space for our members to engage with local leaders in meaningful ways. These connections empower REALTORS® to better support their clients and advocate for the well-being of the communities we serve," said PGCAR President Carole Webb.
